What is 1000 Women Trust?
1000 Women Trust is a South African Women's Rights Organisation dedicated to combating gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF). For over two decades, we've been empowering GBV Community Organisations nationwide, advocating for change and resilience.
Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to harmful acts directed at individuals based on their gender. It includes physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse, and it disproportionately affects women and girls.
We combat GBV through awareness campaigns, survivor support programs, advocacy for policy changes, and education initiatives aimed at preventing violence and empowering survivors.
In South Africa, alarming statistics show high rates of GBV. Last year alone, there were over 10,500 reported rapes, 1,500 attempted murders, and 14,400 assaults against women in just three months.
You can get involved by volunteering, participating in events and campaigns, donating, or spreading awareness through social media and community engagement.
We offer trauma support, counselling, legal aid, educational programs, and access to resources to help survivors rebuild their lives and seek justice.
You can donate online through our website or by depositing funds directly into our bank account. Visit the "Support Us" section on our website for more information.
